Fred Sirieix impresses Barnsley College students

Fred Sirieix

@Channel4’s @FirstDates star, @fredsirieix1, talked to Catering and Hospitality students at @barnsleycollege about his extensive career in hospitality and television.

As an inspirational speaker, Fred spoke virtually to students about his career path and gave tips on being successful within the competitive industry. Students took the opportunity to ask Fred questions related to hospitality, career advice and working in television.

Fred started the talk by sharing how his hospitality journey began by working front-of-house in a Michelin-starred restaurant in France before working at La Tante Claire, Le Gavroche, Sartoria, Brasserie Roux and Galvin at Windows in London.

He also spoke to students about the production of TV show First Dates and what it is truly like to work with Gordon Ramsay and Gino D’Acampo on ITV’s Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.

Louis Millthorpe, a Level 2 Culinary Skills student, said: “I enjoyed listening to Fred talk about his overall life experience and the story he told about working in various roles in the hospitality industry. Having listened to Fred’s feedback I am determined to succeed in the industry and become a successful chef.”

Martyn Hollingsworth, Catering and Hospitality Curriculum Leader at Barnsley College, added: “We are really grateful to Fred for giving up his time to speak to us, he was motivational and gave some brilliant advice to our students.

“The College is committed to transforming the lives of all its students and we aim to provide the highest quality provision possible. This helps to raise our students’ aspirations and provide opportunities for them to achieve their full potential.”
