From education to employment

Get better at speaking English at Barnsley College

Places are still available on @BarnsleyCollege’s English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) course for those wanting to improve their English speaking skills.

This course will provide students with the essential language skills needed to help them communicate in English by improving their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Developing their understanding of the English language, they will become a more fluent English speaker and build their skills and confidence to help them to live, work and study.

On completion of the course, students will get a recognised qualification which can help them in their next step, whether that is employment progression, continuing with further study or making everyday life a bit easier.

Classes are flexible and can be tailored to fit around work or family life.

In response to the current government guidance in relation to Covid-19, smaller class sizes and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Andra Ghencea, Head of Department for English, Maths and ESOL at Barnsley College, said: “ESOL is perfect for anyone wanting to get a grasp of the English language. The course is practical and students will learn to speak about topics which are relevant to them in everyday life such as travel, work, family and friends, the weather and use of numbers.

“It’s not too late to join us and places are still available for ESOL courses starting in September.”
