Borders College’s Katharine focuses on the future of e-learning

Katharine Mathison, Vocational Manager for Borders College Business Development Unit, recently attended the Learning Pool Live Event, held in Glasgow, where she spent the day learning about the use of technology to deliver learning in the future.

The customer-focused event, which is designed to allow delegates to take advantage of the knowledge and experience of the Learning Pool team, looked at new platforms for e-learning and the future of learning management systems, including the use of Learning Experience Programmes (LXPs). The event also focused on products offered by the company and looked at ways forward for e-learning within each individual’s organisations.

The main focus of the visit was to learn more about Learning Pool, after the company took over Mediacorp – last year’s provider of e-portfolios. Katharine was keen to learn how Learning Pool sees the product developing in the future and how the Business Development Unit portfolios will dovetail with their products going forward.

Katharine commented:

“I enjoyed the opportunity to attend this event and learn about LXPs. The event gave me some ideas for the future and how we may need to modify our e-learning to meet the demands and expectations of our students. This was an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from other colleges and share good practice.”
