Kirklees College to host Virtual Open Days this November

Following the success of its summer events, @KirkleesCollege has announced it is hosting a further series of interactive Virtual Open Days in November to support prospective students considering their options for the next academic year.

With traditional open days postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the college has had to adapt their approach to provide its 16-18 students with the information and opportunities they need to progress in their chosen career path.

Open to year 11 students, parents and carers, the Virtual Open Days will take place over a two-week period from Saturday 7 November – Tuesday 17 November. Each virtual event will be dedicated to different subject areas, including creative industries, business, travel and tourism, construction, motor vehicle, engineering, health and social care, hospitality and catering and hair and beauty.

These events will take place via the Kirklees College website, where people will be able to book on to live subject talks, take virtual tours of the centres, chat with tutors and learn more about apprenticeships.

Teaching and support staff will also be available to talk to online during the online webinars via Microsoft Teams to guide students through the application process, work experience opportunities, student support services and answer any questions that they may have.

Helen Rose, Director of External Relations at Kirklees College, said:

“The coronavirus pandemic has meant that the college has had to constantly adapt to the ever-changing circumstances in the further education sector. We are committed to providing potential students with fantastic insights into the student experience and guidance to help them achieve their career goals and aspirations. We enjoyed great success with our previous virtual events and look forward to again showcasing what Kirklees College has to offer.”

Registration for the upcoming Virtual Open Days is now open. If students are unable to attend an event live, they can go to the Kirklees College YouTube channel where a recording of the session will be available to view.
