Newcastle teachers set to benefit from free technology training boost

Teachers in Newcastle and its surrounding areas will again benefit from the nationwide teacher training initiative – LearnED – now in its second year. The Newcastle edition of LearnED is one of nine regional roadshows touring the UK throughout 2019/2020.

Newcastle Racecourse has been selected as the venue for the one-day LearnED Roadshow which will offer free digital training and support for up to 200 local teachers. LearnED is an educational technology conference designed to make a positive impact for schools, led by the British Educational Suppliers Association, (BESA), in conjunction with the Department for Education (DfE).

The LearnED roadshow provides practical hands-on guidance and best practice support on how education technology can be used to improve outcomes, increase efficiencies and reduce teacher workload in schools which is defined in the Department for Education’s EdTech strategy.

The event on Wednesday 27 November is the first in the second season of LearnED and features lots of new content based on feedback received from the first series. In fact 92% of delegates said they would attend another LearnED event in the future.

It offers headteachers and ICT leads in the Newcastle area the chance to hear from fellow headteachers and SLTs about the products and services that have made a positive impact in their school and discover new ways of working that will save time and make a positive impact.

LearnED is designed to allow teachers to take part in high-level discussions debating issues such as using technology to support teaching and learning; giving teachers more time to teach; and using technology as a catalyst for change. There is also a supplier exhibition featuring 30 outstanding educational suppliers ready to engage with teachers to help transform schools.

Teachers can also visit the demonstrator classroom and see inspiring lessons taking place using a variety of technology and will come away with ideas and tips that can be put into practice and will earn CPD points for attending. Teachers can register to attend the event free of charge.
