Winning Christmas card design scoops prize

Art and Design student Verity-Ann Dixon has won a competition to design the official Christmas card to be sent out on behalf of Barnsley College, Barnsley Sixth Form College and University Campus Barnsley.

The annual competition open to all students is always a highlight of the academic year and one which the College management team looks forward to judging. This year was no different with a very high standard of entries but voting produced a unanimous result in favour of Verity-Ann’s wintry scene. The original design was produced using acrylic paint on canvas board which was then scanned and reproduced as an electronic and printed card.

Verity-Ann, 16, said: “I love using acrylic paint. It’s definitely my favourite material to work with and I knew I wanted to use it for my design. I came into College to spend extra time working on it and am really pleased with the final result.”

As well as seeing her design professionally printed and distributed, Verity-Ann was also presented with £30 of High Street vouchers by Principal Chris Webb.
