Pupils’ Easter performance of A Passion for Rugeley

Children from The Hart School in Rugeley will bring the Easter story to life this Good Friday with a creative public performance.

Pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 will take part in performing a self-devised storytelling piece, entitled A Passion for Rugeley, in the town’s Brooke Square on Friday, April 19, at 11am.

The whole-school project will see pupils performing alongside adult members of Churches Together, a group made up of members of the local church communities, to tell the story of Jesus’ arrest, trial, crucifixion and resurrection.

The Hart School, which is part of Creative Education Trust, is the only school taking part in the 30-minute performance, which is free to attend, and is open to all religions, backgrounds and beliefs.

The Hart School Principal Chris Keen said: “Through our curriculum and extra-curricular activities we teach our pupils British values and how to celebrate diversity.

“This modern retelling of the Passion of Jesus story will see our students show off their plethora of creative skills in the forum of a local, public performance.

“As a school which prides itself on being at the heart of its community, we are incredibly proud that our students have worked in unison, across all year groups, to put together this production and they are incredibly excited to perform it for their families and other residents of Rugeley this Easter.”

The Hart School in Penkridge Bank Road, Rugeley, is rated Good by Ofsted, and also has a Sixth Form with a bespoke curriculum.
