Students thanked for part in poppy appeal success

Ronnie Kershaw and Alison Harding, Royal British Legion, Ashton-under-Lyne, have thanked public services students for their help in collecting over £10,000 for this year’s poppy appeal.

The Tameside College students collected donations for the charity earlier this autumn at the town’s Arcades shopping precinct.  The final sum of £10,222 contributed to over £62,000 that was collected by the Royal British Legion across Ashton-under-Lyne.

Ronnie Kershaw, Royal British Legion volunteer said:  “The students have been brilliant.  We had a much bigger presence with their support.  They were always courteous and worked extremely well in teams.”

Alison Harding, poppy appeal organiser, Royal British Legion, Ashton-under-Lyne, said: “We have said a big thank you to the students for their hard work and support for the charity.”
