Training prize up for grabs at London 2011

Thursday, 06 October 2011 22:35
uksp
UKSP, the information site for careers in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry, is giving teachers visiting the WorldSkills London 2011 event the chance to win an employment skills training day for their class.

The site focuses on the transformation of skills in the sectors on behalf of sector skills council People 1st by developing qualifications from leadership to customer service.

The once-in-a-lifetime prize covers vital employment skills, such as workplace insights and customer services, and also prepares students for the interview process as well as giving them tips on how to create a positive first impression. It will be available for a class of students aged 14-18 years.

According to People 1st, there are significant opportunities emerging for professionals in hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism, with the need for an extra 638,000 additional jobs by 2017, of which almost ten per cent will be managerial posts. It is emerging as one of the UK's fastest growing job creators, accounting for one in 15 UK jobs (equaling 7.2% of the total working population), the SSC says.

To enter the competition, teachers need to visit the UKSP stand at no. 49 within the Campus, Education and Training section of the WorldSkills London 2011 ExCeL event on 5-8 October.
