From education to employment

Barking & Dagenham College Students Ask the Experts

Students got to grill the experts about the health and social care industry as part of an employer event at Barking & Dagenham College.

The event was a collaboration with Care City and was part of the North East London Health Care Partnership drive to encourage and inspire more young people into local health and social care jobs.

It saw over 50 health and social care students have the chance to meet with a number of employers and find out about what jobs are available.  It was also an opportunity to find out more about the different roles that make up the industry, giving the students an insight into the many different career paths they could take.

The employees included Prestige Care, Access All Care & Training Solutions, Shreeji Training, Manorcourt Homecare, Supreme Home Care and Abbcross Nursing Home. They were delighted to meet with the students and offer hints and tips about what the students would need to do in order to succeed in their chosen fields.

The event went extremely well and the students really benefited from it.  Jeanette Griffin, from Barking & Dagenham College said:

“It was a great opportunity for the students to really understand how the industry works and what opportunities there are out there. It was also an opportunity for them to start building relationships with potential employers which is really important.  They got so much from the event and we’re so grateful to the employers for taking the time to meet with them.”
