Mick Lunn, Motor Vehicle Lecturer at Burton and South Derbyshire College said: “I’m over the moon to have been recognised by the IRTE for my service to the industry. I started as an agricultural engineer and then went into trucks and cars. I spent 20 years of my career working in the lorries in the mining industry. I’ve now been lecturing at the College now for 22 years and seeing the students progress makes my day.

“Working in the engineering industry is a passion and you’ve got to be dedicated to learning new things all of the time. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved in my life and hope to pass on my enthusiasm to the students coming through.”

Peter Brochocki, Curriculum Team Leader for Motor Vehicle and Fabrication and Welding added: “I consider Mick’s ability to rouse enthusiasm for the subject among young people to be the greatest asset he possesses. He brings out the best in people with appreciation and encouragement, giving every young person an opportunity to achieve success and the incentive to work.”
