From education to employment

Barton Peveril Appoint New Principal

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College is delighted to announce that Rob Temple, currently Vice Principal (Curriculum and Community) at the College, has been appointed as Principal. Rob Temple will begin his tenure on 1st August 2022.

Barton Peveril Chair of Governors, Karen Everett, commented on the new Principal appointment:

ā€œIt is a sign of the incredible strength and depth of leadership in the College that the perfect candidate to succeed Jonathan Prest as Principal is one of our own.  Rob Temple will be excellent at building on the strengths of the College and taking it forward over the coming decade. He is known and respected by our stakeholders, staff, students, parents, schools and many local employers. We are all delighted by this outcome and look forward to a seamless transition in August.ā€

The newly appointed Principal underwent a rigorous, two day selection process against a strong field of external candidates. In all areas his performance was excellent, confirming his readiness and suitability for the post.

Rob Temple began his career working as a Journalist and Researcher for the BBC before starting his journey in academia at The Sixth Form College, Farnborough, an Ofsted ā€˜Outstandingā€™ College in the north of Hampshire, where he worked for 12 years and progressed to the position of Director of Curriculum. Rob Temple then joined Barton Peveril, where he has worked for 11 years and is now responsible for the excellent teaching and curriculum across the College and for our relationship with partner schools.

Speaking on his appointment, Rob Temple said:

ā€œI am delighted by the opportunity to lead such an inspiring and aspirational College; Barton Peveril has a well deserved reputation for placing the student at the heart of everything it does, and this is reflected in the outstanding outcomes young people enjoy whilst they are at the College and the exciting destinations they move on to afterwards.

ā€œStudents clearly respond to the opportunity to study in such a modern and purposeful learning community, supported by staff who are interested in them and have the highest expectations of their potential. It is a privilege to take on Barton Peveril as the Sixth Form College of choice in the region.ā€
