This week, we welcome Dr Lynn Jones, Furniture Industry Recruitment Specialist and Careers Adviser to the (virtual booth), where we reflect on how Covid-19 has impacted the furniture industry, what students and graduates can do to adapt to changes within the sector and how design-related courses might be taught differently in the future.

Helen Armitage – A Senior Employability Adviser for the College of Social Sciences and Arts at Sheffield Hallam University. Helen leads on the Hallam Career Mentoring Scheme and primarily supports the department of Art and Design with in-curriculum careers delivery.

Chris Webb – An Employability Adviser at Sheffield Hallam University, Chris supports the Gradvantage programme for final year students and graduates, as well as collaborating with the College of Business, Technology and Engineering on in-curriculum careers delivery.

Dr Lynn Jones – Formerly Furniture Department Manager in a university with a leading reputation for furniture manufacturing in the UK, Dr Lynn Jones has helped hundreds of graduates find work in the furniture and interiors industry. With a large network of furniture companies, furniture and product design students, graduates and alumni, she now runs a recruitment service tailored to the furniture industry.  Lynn is a furniture specialist External Examiner at several universities in the UK and abroad. She also gives furniture career guidance, employability talks and graduate workshops for universities, colleges and trade associations. She has a PhD in Furniture Design and lives in Oxfordshire with her family.
