Design a Cycle Safety Helmet Competition for Schools

First4Lawyers, legal marketing specialists, announce design-your-own helmet competition for primary schools across the country

Huddersfield-based First4Lawyers have announced the start of their Cycle Safety design-your-own helmet competition as part of their partnership with Brake, the road safety charity and are encouraging local schools to get their students involved.

The competition is running as part of Road Safety Week (19th-25th November), which is co-ordinated by Brake, to raise awareness of cycle safety and protecting those on 2 wheels.

Figures from a recent study estimated that bicycle helmets could have prevented 75% of fatal head injuries and 85% of non-fatal traumatic brain injuries in kids injured while riding their bikes.

Teaming up with the University of Huddersfield (3M Buckley Innovation Centre) and LW Graphics, First4Lawyers’ competition will give Key Stage 2 pupils the chance to see their designs come to life with replicas of the winning designs created through 3D printing.

Not only will pupils see their designs realised, the eight lucky winners will also win a brand-new bike in time for Christmas.

Spokesperson for First4Lawers, Andrew Cullwick, says of the competition:

“We are excited to see the designs that pupils across the country create, and we hope that along with being a fun initiative it will also encourage children to wear helmets while cycling. Road Safety Week is the perfect platform to help raise awareness of this very important issue and we are grateful to our partners Brake, the University of Huddersfield and LW Graphics for helping us achieve it.

Mike Bristow, spokesperson for Brake, the road safety charity said:

“Brake is pleased to be supporting First 4 Lawyers’ design a cycling helmet competition. This is a fantastic way to raise awareness and bring road safety into the classroom. It’s great to see that First 4 Lawyers are working alongside and supporting schools across the UK during Road Safety Week.”

The competition will start on Monday 5th November 2018 and the judges will award prizes to a boy and girl from each Key Stage 2 year group (Year 3-6).

The deadline for receiving entries is 4pm on Tuesday 27th November 2018
