College is finalist in two categories in the 2007 National Business Awards for Scotland

Aberdeen College has been announced as a finalist in two categories in the 2007 National Business Awards for Scotland, sponsored by Orange. The college will be competing against others in The Atos Origin Award for e-Enablement and The ProjectScotland Corporate Social Responsibility Award
The colleges team will now prepare to make their presentations in person to a further panel of expert judges, including senior executives, academics and business specialists, in mid to late July. Made up of fourteen categories,winners will be unveiled at a gala awards evening at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel on Thursday 13 September 2007.
Competing against Blackhorse Finance, Boudiche, Millstream Associates and the Royal Bank of Scotland in The Atos Origin Award for e-Enablement category, the Award will go to the organisation that best demonstrates it effectively uses technology-based management information systems to effectively manage its day-to-day operations. In addition, the winner will show how management and staff have been engaged by the systems and demonstrate how it has improved its operational efficiency and effectiveness.
In contention for The ProjectScotland Corporate Social Responsibility Award alongside beCogent, Harper Macleod LLP, Production Services Network (PSN) and Radisson SAS in Edinburgh, the accolade will go to the business which best displays a company-wide commitment to CSR. Evidence will be sought of a clearly expressed and widely communicated corporate sustainability strategy with a mainfocus on actions launched to manage risk prevention from a commercial,environmental, governance and social development perspective above andbeyond the requirements set by legislation.

The total entry in the 2006 event had a combined turnover of £22billion,generated profits of £8.3billion (which accounts for around 30 per cent ofScotlands GDP) and employed over 300,000 people.
