5th Annual EBP #STEM Fair hosted by Fareham College at CEMAST
Hundreds of primary school pupils attend annual business-led STEM fair at Fareham College.
A collaborative STEM fair between local businesses, organisations and Fareham College saw hundreds of local primary school children take part in a variety of hands-on activities designed to teach them the value of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
For the fifth consecutive year, Fareham College’s Centre of Excellence for Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training (CEMAST) has hosted the Education Business Partnership’s (EBP) STEM Fair for primary school pupils in the local area.
This year’s event saw companies including Portsmouth Water, Pfizer and Pall share their knowledge and expertise with pupils keen to learn more about STEM subjects and related careers.
The businesses laid on interactive activities to help bring STEM to life. These included how to manipulate different gases, navigate dangerous terrain and create innovative water supplies from reservoirs to homes. The purpose of the event was to inspire and engage young people in STEM industries, enrich their learning and broaden their awareness of the subjects in a fun and engaging way.
Fareham College Principal, Nigel Duncan, said,
“This is a fantastic event for CEMAST to host and be involved in and we enjoyed welcoming all of the organisations and schools taking part. The STEM Fair provides an exciting and engaging way to inform young people about careers in these vital industries. We are very fortunate to have such outstanding facilities at CEMAST and hope the pupils that have participated in the fair will be inspired to become the scientists and engineers of the future.”
Pauline French, Quality Specialist from Pfizer, added,
“This event is all about inspiring young people and showing them that STEM isn’t about lab coats in labs.”

“The STEM Fair is a chance to see how these important subjects are very relevant to future careers and our everyday lives. Everything is aimed at encouraging young people to enjoy STEM subjects, and to be inspired for their own futures. EBP South is enormously grateful to all the exhibitors, sponsors and hosts who made this such an exciting and informative event.”
The Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training, CEMAST, was the ideal venue for the fair and it proved to be a very successful event. With vast workshops and high-tech equipment, the campus allowed young people to experience real STEM in action.
The STEM Fair is run in partnership by the Education Business Partnership with Portsmouth Water, sponsored by Pfizer and hosted by Fareham College.
Responses
