From education to employment

Applications are now open for UKSA’s industry-leading Watersports Academy with two fully-funded places available thanks to the Edmiston Foundation

UKSA (@uksasailing), the leading maritime education and training charity, is delighted to announce that applications are now open for its Watersports Academy with two fully-funded places available thanks to the Edmiston Foundation.

UKSA’s Watersports Academy is designed for young people, aged 18-25, who are looking to enter the industry and gain valuable experience working alongside UKSA’s fantastic team of instructors.

During the eleven weeks of training, students will gain the essential skills and qualifications needed to be a multi-disciplined watersports instructor. Students will have a dedicated mentor during the training and on successful completion, graduates will be employed by UKSA for two busy summer seasons starting in April 2022. Students will graduate with over 20 internationally accredited qualifications including RYA Dinghy instructor, RYA Start Windsurf Instructor, RYA Powerboat level 2 and MCA Elementary First Aid.

In October 2020, Edmiston and UKSA launched The Edmiston Foundation, an important collaboration between one of the world’s leading yachting companies, and the UK’s leading maritime training organisation. The Foundation aims to provide young people from the most underrepresented and disadvantaged groups, an opportunity to forge a career in the maritime sector.

Normally priced at £4,600, inclusive of all food and accommodation, the Edmiston Foundation will be supporting two places on the course each year.
