@BartonPeveril Sixth Form College student Liv Austin placed first in the Discus at the SIAB International, held in Derby on Saturday 25th September 2021. Liv Austin won her event in the Under 17 age category with a throw of 40.29 metres.

The SIAB International sees the home nation’s best athletes compete across a range of track and field disciplines. Austin represented England at the event, having earned her spot by placing second at the English Schools Athletics Championships in Trafford in July of this year.

The former Upper Shirley High School pupil also represents Southampton Athletics Club and is coached by Dave and Debbie Callaway. Austin will now move to the Under 20 age category and has her sights set on the 2023 European Championships, which are to be held in Romania.

Speaking on her success, Liv Austin said:

‘I was elated to win my international debut representing England. After a tough couple years, the win was exactly what I have been working for. I am now looking forward to the challenge of moving up an age category into the U20s and focusing on my long term goal of the European Championships in 2023.’
