Brecon Students Earn Sports Scholarships

Two students at Brecon Beacons College are the latest to have been awarded with the Sport and Cultural Scholarship on offer at NPTC Group of Colleges.

Sport and Public Services students Jack Jones and Corey Evans have both been rewarded with £500 for their hard work and dedication to their course and extra-curricular activities.

Jack has aspirations to join the police force. He joined us at College having achieved nine A-C GCSE’s. His motivation to succeed has been evident right from the beginning of induction and has held impeccable attendance and punctuality records since being on the course.

In his spare time Jack currently competes and trains for the Welsh Shotokan karate association, and even finds time to enjoy a great amount of success in the Welsh Sheepdog trials!

Being able to juggle his studies with his extra-curricular activities, as well as his parents’ farming work at home, makes Jack very deserving of the scholarship and he can be proud of his efforts so far.

Corey, meanwhile, has also excelled whilst studying the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science with us at Brecon Beacons College.

He has worked extremely hard and consistently delivers work to a very high standard, which has led him to being predicted to finish his course with a triple distinction grade.

Corey is an enthusiastic sports’ performer, and has represented the College in football tournaments across the country.

He has a keen eye and talent for a number of sports, and in April he will travel to Nottingham to represent the College in a national volleyball tournament.

Corey has also contributed a huge amount to the local community, by coaching at local primary schools and working with students who suffer with learning disabilities.

His determination to succeed makes him a great ambassador for the College, and Corey too, can be proud of his scholarship and time with us so far.

We have a number of scholarship opportunities at NPTC Group of Colleges, and a variety of courses to help you with your career. For more information, please visit www.nptcgroup.ac.uk.
