Catering students prepare to represent Wales

Two Hospitality students from Gower College Swansea are set to represent Wales at the WorldSkills UK LIVE National Finals.

Paige Jones, who is on the Level 3 Diploma in Food and Beverage Service Supervision course, and Paulina Skoczek, who is studying Level 2 Diploma in Professional Cookery, will take part in the Restaurant Services Finals at Birmingham’s NEC in November.

Over the two day competition, they will be faced with a series of challenging tasks including cocktail making, fruit carving, preparing flambé desserts, serving a Champagne afternoon tea and identifying a series of spirits and liqueurs.

“This is the fourth consecutive year that a student from Gower College Swansea has made it to the final stages of this prestigious event,” says Learning Area Manager Mark Clement. “The Hospitality and Catering team is delighted that Paige and Paulina will have this wonderful opportunity to show off their skills and compete at such a high level.”
