From education to employment

Christmas show is a ‘shining’ success

Clarendon Sixth Form College’s has already sold out its Christmas performance on Friday 15th December.

Performing arts students are preparing for a showcase of comedy sketches, songs and dances, including an abridged version of musical Carousel and other well-known pieces.

Richard Goodwin, curriculum leader for creative studies, said: “The students have worked incredibly hard on the show this year. They have auditioned for a part and then practiced time and time again to get it perfect, just like in the real theatre industry. The fact that the show has sold out is amazing. We are going from strength to strength, especially with our links to institutions such as ArtsEd.”

Joshua Jones, performing arts student who plays ‘Billy Bigelow’ in Carousel, said: “It’s been fantastic to see a packed out theatre with everyone enjoying the show. Its nerve wracking to have a central part in it, but it’s good for me to gain experience of a wide range of skills. I have really enjoyed it.”
