College Catering Lecturer Wins Community Award

An NPTC Group of Colleges lecturer has been awarded the Builth Wells Rotary Community Service Award for outstanding voluntary contributions to the community.

Shaun Bailey, who teaches Catering at Newtown College, has been recognised for his commitment to the Rotary Young Chef Competition in and around Builth Wells. He has been involved in the competition for the past 10 years, providing workshops to the contestants. Shaun brings a wealth of industry expertise to the competition having judged the Welsh International Culinary Championship.

Head of Catering at NPTC Group of College, Sue Lloyd Jones, spoke of Shaun’s recent accomplishment saying: ‘Shaun is a fabulous inspiration to young chefs and it is wonderful that he has been recognised for giving his time in this way. It’s typical of Shaun’s generous nature to assist others to realise their ambitions.’
