Deputy Mayor of London Officially Launches South Thames Colleges Group’s New University Centre Title

South Thames Colleges Group (@STCG_College) hosted an opening ceremony to celebrate the new University Centre title granted by the Department of Education (@educationgovuk). The ceremony was marked with the unveiling of a plaque by Deputy Mayor of London, Jules Pipe, in the Undergraduate Centre at Kingston College (@KCupdate).

As one of the largest providers of college-based higher education in London, South Thames Colleges Group (STCG) has a successful history of delivering first class University level courses in collaboration with its University partners. STCG works hard to ensure it is current with both the market and employers to ensure its curriculum is employer led.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Greater London Authority, Group Principal & CEO of South Thames Colleges Group, Chair of Governors and Governors and South Thames Colleges Group Higher Education students and staff.

At the event Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, said: 

“I’d like to congratulate South Thames Colleges Group on being awarded University Centre Status – it is a real testament to all the hard work and dedication shown by the team. This University Centre plays a vital role in supporting Londoners and giving students the tools they need to develop successful careers, businesses and lives.”

Stella Raphael-Reeves, Assistant Principal, Higher Education and Business Development, said:

“We are thrilled to have been recognised and to be able to use University Centre Title for South Thames Colleges Group. Our course offering has gone from strength to strength, we have fulfilled aspirations of our students through our fantastic teaching with many our STCG Alumni going on to establish themselves in various career paths.”

The undergraduate provision is currently based at three of the Colleges, Carshalton, Kingston and South Thames.
