From education to employment

eWorking FE

How far is it possible for FE staff to become eWorkers?

Coventry University aims to be at the centre of a transformation of working practices in FE. It is about to launch its eWorking Solutions service – starting with an event on 12 June – which will provide support delivering the cultural and management changes needed for a flexible workforce. The service is based around the experience of Coventry with its enterprise division, where half of the 200 employees at all levels are eWorkers, and which has seen a drop in absenteeism, lower reported levels of stress, along with major savings on office space (around £68,000 per year). The University itself is currently piloting eWork among 30 academics.

I wondered if you’d be interested in an article from the head of the new service, Tim Luft, on the efficiency and cost savings possible for FE colleges, the IT infrastructure required and the role for management in creating the right culture for eWorking to be effective?

Thanks

Tim
