From education to employment

Fusion Heating collaborate with local college to upskill

Once again South Eastern Regional College (SERC) has prepared individuals to thrive in the workplace by up-skilling local businesses with nationally recognised qualifications.

Fusion Heating based in Belfast have availed of a range of training programmes at their local Further Education College thanks to the Department for the Economy’s Skills Focus training programme.

Fusion Heating has had an educational partnership with SERC since 2015 and have upskilled over 100 employees in areas such as; domestic and commercial gas, payroll, energy efficiency, human resource management, water safety, social media, leadership and management and periodic and initial inspections and testing.

Fusion Heating HR Director Nicola Cherry said:

“The training was delivered to enhance skills and ensure we remain competitive and compliant in an ever-changing environment. We are committed to continual investment in our workforce and we are thrilled to avail of the training opportunities offered by SERC. The training from SERC has helped us upskill our engineers which will contribute to the future growth of the company.”

Thanks to their commitment to training, the Company was nominated for the Commitment to Training award at SERCs graduation ceremony.

SERC head of business services Elaine Flynn explains

“SERC recognises that training and development is an essential aspect of growing the local economy and we recognise that not all companies have the capital to invest in this.

“I would encourage SME’s to take advantage of the Skills Focus funding to up-skill their staff and I encourage all employers to contact their local college about their training needs, since this is a real opportunity for their employees to gain new skills.”

SERC offers a comprehensive range of training programmes to suit the needs of local employers. For more information please email Philip Martin, or call on 07585 669596.
