Henley College student wins Gold at European Athletics

Henley College student Joshua Zeller has hit Gold by winning the 110m Hurdles at the 2019 European Athletics U20 Championships in Borås, Sweden.

This achievement follows an outstanding run of sporting success over the past year with Josh competing in both Germany and Finland. Alongside completing his A Levels in Maths, Geography and Business and the Elite Rugby Programme, Josh has had an intense training schedule, has won a number of competitions and is tipped for selection for Team GB.

Earlier this year Josh broke into the top 10 all-time British rankings in his age group with a personal best time of 13.49 seconds, taking his dream of Olympic glory a step closer.

Josh has also clinched a sports scholarship at a top US university and following his studies at Henley, will be heading to the University of Michigan  where he will train under some of the best coaches in the world, alongside studying a business degree.

The Henley College’s AASE Rugby Coach, Gareth Harris, commented:

“It was great to see Josh winning Gold recently at the European U20 Championships. It’s testament to him as a young man how he has managed to balance his sporting and academic commitments over the last 2 years whilst studying at The Henley College. Josh has also been a very accomplished rugby player as part of our AASE programme and I know that he is now looking forward to taking his place at the University of Michigan next year to pursue his ambitions in athletics alongside his academics.”
