Itchen College Student Daisy Pusey Creates Children’s Book

Daisy Pusey

Itchen College (@ItchenCollege) student Daisy Pusey has created an incredible children’s book titled ‘The Dragon Who Lost His Wings’, which is generating interest from well-established publishing agencies including Pegasus Publishers! Daisy, who formerly attended Wildern School, has combined skills that she has learnt from her Graphics and IT & Computing classes and has written and illustrated the entire book herself as part of a college project. She is now in the process of responding to attention from external publishing firms.

Daisy has also accepted a place at Falmouth University in September to study BA (Hons) Game Art, where she will be able to further explore her passion for graphic design and digital illustration!

Daisy spoke on her time at Itchen Sixth Form College:

“My dream for as long as I can remember has been to create children’s books. As a child me and my dad would create stories together and I saw my graphics A-level as a great opportunity to do this again. Itchen has given me the confidence and support to expand my creative skills. This has helped me continue to improve and try new things that I never would have even looked at before. During the process of applying to university my dream university was Falmouth, but I didn’t apply at first as I didn’t believe I was good enough. After speaking to my teachers and reviewing all the work I have done throughout my time here, I saw how much I have achieved and went for it. I received an unconditional offer!”

Speaking on Daisy’s success, Teacher of Graphics and Fine Art Jon Leftley said:

“Since joining my A Level Graphics class Daisy has displayed a real aptitude and passion for the subject. She has always looked to produce her best possible work, which often encompassed refining and improving work that she had already spent a considerable time on, subsequently submitting a high level of commercially viable work. Daisy’s enthusiasm and work ethic has never waned and even during lockdown she attended all of her classes and produced some fantastic practical and written work. Her dedication and work ethic has certainly paid off, with an offer of a place at Falmouth Uni to study Game Art and interest from Pegasus Publishers for her children’s book!”

Congratulations Daisy on everything you have achieved during your time so far at Itchen Sixth Form College and we wish you the very best in all of your future endeavours!
