International education centre in Brunei Darussalam will use power of education to address United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030
Nisai selects Brunei Darussalam to establish its Asia Regional Hub
The Nisai Group Ltd of the United Kingdom (“Nisai”) is pleased to announce that Brunei Darussalam has been selected to deliver quality assured innovative educational programmes for the regions within Asia and beyond.
With the objective of meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, the international education centre in Brunei Darussalam will use the power of education to address all seventeen of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The selection of Brunei Darussalam to establish its Regional Hub rests on the significance of education being at the heart of the Nation’s Development Plan “Wawasan 2035” or Vision 2035. Above all, this strategic plan aims to transform Brunei Darussalam (among others) into a Nation widely recognized for the accomplishments of its well-educated and highly skilled people as measured by the highest international standard.
Dhruv Patel, CEO of Nisai Group, commented: “What first attracted me the most to establish the regional hub in Brunei Darussalam was the high standard of proficiency of the Bruneians understanding and conversing in the English Language as well as its education system being based on the UK educational system. We look forward to this new venture with PTB!”
Pg. FDr. Hishamuddin Alli, Founder of Syarikat PTB, said “In the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0, the system of education and learning needs to evolve in order to meet the requirements of future Learners. With Nisai’s Virtual Learning System, we believe that this is what is needed to propel us into the Age of Digital Revolution truly and fully”.
The Acting Commissioner of the British High Commission, Ms. Natalie Gowers-Barnes, expressed that “The UK continues to be the leading innovator in distance and e-learning material and programmes. We have significant experience in working with overseas governments and partners to help them prepare for the world of work. We are delighted and proud about Nisai Group’s partnership with PTB and had chosen Brunei as their regional hub to deliver quality education services for Asia. The high quality of UK education sector, encompassing universities, colleges, schools, education technology companies and a host of other providers, is recognised throughout the world”.
This investment to quality education by the Government of Brunei Darussalam for its people is commendable. The dynamism of the local professionals and the great potential demonstrated by the Nation’s youths in bringing significant changes in the Country’s economy will be relied upon by Nisai into the deliverance of its educational programmes.
Nisai is also pleased to announce the appointment of a female Bruneian professional, Ms. FDr. Normawati Othman, as the Regional Director to head the Asia Regional Hub. Together with recruited tutors from amongst Bruneian citizens, Nisai’s interactive education will be catered to the needs of their clients in regions within Asia, including the ASEAN member countries, China, Japan and several countries in the Middle East.
Online education programmes they offer include functional skills in English and Mathematics as well as Cambridge accredited IGCSEs and A Levels. The joint venture with Syarikat Pakar Tenaga Bersatu (“PTB”) of Brunei Darussalam has led the establishment of a Nisai-PTB Regional Centre that will offer a blended approach in the delivery of technical and vocational skills programmes for the ASEAN Region. These courses will be accredited by Nisai’s strategic partner, the National Open College Network of the United Kingdom (“NOCN”), and Cambridge International.
Functional Skills are applied qualifications which enable students to demonstrate real-life skills in literacy and numeracy. These courses are more skills based and provide our learners with a visual and practical approach to learning.
NOCN offer qualifications both locally and internationally through their blended approach to learning. These qualifications include productivity programmes, Apprenticeship delivery, Access to Higher Education and English as a Second Language (ESOL), amongst many others. NOCN shares with Nisai a common focus on the value of learning and the difference it makes to the lives of learners.
It is expected that the delivery of these services from the Asia Regional Hub shall commence by early 2020.
