Open event for games, animation and visual effects course

Barnsley Collegen (@BarnsleyCollege) and NextGen are holding an open event to find out about the new Games, Animation and Visual Effects (VFX) course on Tuesday 17 August at 6.00pm.

The hour-long online event will give visitors the chance to speak to staff from NextGen and College tutors to learn more about the partnership between NextGen and the College, the course, the types of careers available within the games, animation and VFX industry and how to apply.

The course has been designed in partnership with NextGen and will ensure students are industry ready and equipped with the right skills and knowledge for the workplace. Studying subjects such as Computer Game Design, Character Design, Game Engines, 3D Modelling, 3D Animation, VFX, Video Editing and Sound Design will prepare students with skills that are highly desirable to the games, animation and VFX industry.

Jonathan Dobson, Course Leader for Games Development/Games, Animation and VFX at Barnsley College, said:

“This course will allow our students to learn the skills and techniques that will afford them the best opportunities to progress to university and into the games, animation and visual effects industries. We are looking forward to seeing our students develop through industry-led talks, briefs, guest lectures and feedback, and for them to be a part of this amazing experience.”

The partnership with NextGen and the launch of this new course is part of Barnsley College’s investment in its digital offer and follows on from the College becoming a Microsoft Showcase College and the £7m development of the SciTech Digital Innovation Hub where the NextGen course will be taught.
