Stewart Segal on employer engagement, the levy and timescales

AELP CEO Stewart Segal talks about employer engagement at the Apprenticeships 4 England conference.

Employers are a vital part of Apprenticeships and Segal says this has now been recognised by government particularly. However, he believes recent policy has left a lot of questions unanswered regarding employer engagement.

AELP is working with the government to put together details on how the Apprenticeship Levy will work and the implications for employers. Segal believes that the importance should be focused on the whole of the employer network, not just those who will be paying the levy.

The levy should result in a lot more investment into the Apprenticeship programme, and Segal warns that the sector should ensure the government does not create barriers of entry for employers and keeps the system simple.
