Success of the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education – (PGCE)

Students studying the Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) have been celebrating their results after completing the two-year course. Ten students successfully completed the course with Linda Williams and Sam Harvey both members of staff at Newtown College, part of the NPTC Group (@NPTCGroup) of Colleges achieving a Distinction grade.

Students on the course have been training to teach across a variety of vocational areas. The course will enhance or broaden career opportunities for the future. Many completed teaching practice within NPTC Group of Colleges.

Sarah Welch PGCE lecturer said:

‘They have all worked so hard. They overcame the challenges of teaching through the pandemic, adapting to online and hybrid methods of teaching and learning both for their own learning on the course and their teaching practice. They have developed skills to use such as being adaptable to constantly updating technology and how to apply this within their teaching methods. We are really pleased with all those completing the course this year.’

At Newtown College we offer a PGCE for those that are graduates from a relevant subject looking to gain a nationally recognised teaching qualification or those with a particular skill, looking to work in further education and the broader post-compulsory sector. On the course, you will develop skills, knowledge and understanding of successful practice in Post-Compulsory Education and your confidence as a professional practitioner.
