The Skills Network Champions Mental Health Awareness, Raises £4000 For Leeds Mind Charity

Leading training provider The Skills Network (TSN) has raised over £4000 for mental health charity Leeds Mind, in an endeavour to promote mental health awareness.

The fundraising campaign was spearheaded by TSN Co-Owner Eliot Grant and involved fundraising activities across TSN’s Selby and London offices, culminating in the organisation hosting their annual charity golf tournament at Leeds Golf Club.

The 16th instalment of the golf tournament took place on Friday 7th September and saw over 80 golfers and 20 teams participate, with attendance from several Yorkshire-based companies, including law firm Rollits LLP and BHP Chartered Accountants, and national awarding organisations Training Qualifications UK and NCFE.

The event was complete with an evening performance from Britain’s Got Talent finalist and Leeds-based comedian Micky P Kerr, who entertained guests with his brilliant and amusing songs.

A total of £4,036 was donated to Leeds Mind. The independent charity provides a wide range of services across the Leeds area to support individuals experiencing issues related to mental health, and offers support in counselling, housing, peer support and suicide bereavement, amongst other services.

Speaking on the campaign, Eliot Grant, Co-Owner of The Skills Network, said:

“Leeds Mind is such a great charity whose work in supporting individuals with all forms of mental health issues is truly remarkable. Mental health touches many families, whether directly or indirectly, and we are extremely honoured to be able to support such a worthwhile organisation.

I am so proud of everyone who has supported this fundraising activity for such a fabulous cause. This includes everyone who attended the golf day, friends, family, suppliers and all staff who have dug deep, not forgetting all of the local businesses and sponsors who supplied prizes to help raise funds and support our events throughout September.”

Charli Brunning, Corporate Fundraising Officer at Leeds Mind, said:

“We are extremely lucky and grateful to be supported by amazing and passionate companies across Yorkshire. Fundraising from companies such as The Skills Network is hugely important in supporting everything we are trying to achieve here at Leeds Mind. We’d like to thank everyone over at The Skills Network for their donation and for supporting our cause.”

The fundraising campaign coincides with TSN’s wider effort to increase awareness of mental health across the country. Earlier in the year, TSN launched their national ‘Citywide Mental Health Project’, which reached out to companies, charities and voluntary organisations and has seen over 1,500 individuals enrol onto a government funded mental health awareness qualification.
