Thousands of students welcomed at @CAVC Freshers’ Fayre 2017

Some four thousand new students have been welcomed to their first year at Cardiff and vale College’s biggest ever Freshers’ Week at its Barry and City Centre campuses.

The students were introduced to the various services and support that CAVC has to offer, as well as a range of exciting activities including Spin to Win with Capital FM, The FiT Faculty giving exercise classes and demonstrations, and South Wales Fire and Rescue demonstrating road safety using virtual reality goggles. Stands also gave out vouchers for local shops and venues, and the College’s Hair, Beauty and Holistic Therapy students performed live demos at the events, which was sponsored by Subway.

Alice Johnson, a 16-year-old Health, Fitness and Wellbeing student from Cardiff said: “The Freshers’ Fayre has been very interesting, very amusing and very good. It’s really good to that the College does this to welcome new students – my favourite part of the Freshers’ Fayre has definitely been having my photograph taken!”

Iieshar Romeh, 18 and an Art and Design student from Barry, added: “I think the Freshers’ Fayre has been interesting because people get to walk around and learn new things, both about the College and the community. It’s definitely a good idea – I’ve enjoyed quite a lot of the stands but I also got to register to vote at the Electoral Commission stand which gives me a say in elections.”
