Top Award For Student Apprentice William Daniel Jones

Student William Daniel Jones, who has just completed the BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Civil Engineering with NPTC Group of Colleges and CITB, has received the prestigious Worshipful Livery Company Award of Wales.

Liveryman, Bob Clarke presented the awards on behalf of the Worshipful Livery Company. The award aims to identify and nurture Welsh talent and promote education, science and technology, with particular emphasis on the promotion of skills and associated professional activities in Wales.

William, or Dan as he is known, was nominated for the award by Apprenticeship Officer Clare Ward of CITB. Dan had previously been a student on the brickwork course at Brecon College and then spent some time self-employed before embarking on the apprenticeship route in Civil Engineering. He completed his work-based learning with Powys County Council Highways Department. Dan was delighted to have been selected for the award and is going to progress on to the HNC in Civil Engineering next.

Clare Ward said: “Dan was an excellent candidate because of his hard work and enthusiasm and he showed exceptional commitment to his CITB apprenticeship.”

Peter Snowball, Head Building Engineering Services at NPTC Group of Colleges said:

“We are very pleased to be able to offer this training with a local industry such as Powys County Council.  We hope to increase the partnership between us and Powys CC alongside CITB.”
