From education to employment

Turn your hobby into a career at Barnsley College

Barnsley College welcomes prospective students to the Creative Industries Higher Education (HE) Open Day on Tuesday 30 April at the Church Street campus.

Those interested in studying HE courses in Art, Media, Music or Performing Arts will have the opportunity to talk to tutors, get information on student finance, find out about student life and learn about the full and part-time study available at the event, which runs from 4.00pm to 8.00pm.

Based in the heart of Barnsley at its well-equipped town centre campus, Barnsley College offers an individual HE study experience giving students the skills and knowledge required to progress in their chosen careers. Course fees start at just £5,995 per year for full-time Higher National Certificates and Diplomas (HNC/Ds), Foundation Degrees, Degrees and Higher Apprenticeships.

A wide variety of creative full and part-time courses are available in Fine Art Practice, Games Design, Popular Music (Performance of Production) and Acting for Touring Theatre. Some courses only require a few hours study per week at the campus, the rest can be done at home.

Evan Wood, HE Curriculum Co-ordinator for Art, Design and Fashion at Barnsley College, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who has thought about Higher Education in the creative field but isn’t sure where to start. You have the chance to speak with our experienced Art, Media, Music and Performing Arts staff and discover the right route for you.

“Even if you haven’t got the qualifications needed to do HE study, we offer Access courses to help you get there.”

Everyone is welcome to attend the Creative Industries Open Day on Tuesday 30 April, at the Church Street campus. You can register in advance or turn up on the day.
