From education to employment

University Campus Barnsley (UCB) Acting degree in the spotlight

University Campus Barnsley (UCB) Acting for Touring Theatre BA (Hons) degree has been accredited by Spotlight.

Spotlight is an online casting portal for professional performers, connecting them with roles in theatre, television and film productions. Training providers must fit specific criteria to be accredited, with this accreditation opening many doors for performing arts students. It enables them to develop professionally; access industry news, advice and events and be showcased in the best possible light to casting professionals.

BA (Hons) Acting for Touring Theatre students are now able to apply to Spotlight, meaning they can put themselves forward for casting calls for theatre, TV and film actors and performers.

Peter Lawton, HE Pathway Leader for Performing Arts at UCB, said:

“Being invited to join Spotlight as graduate members is a fantastic boost to our students’ prospects. Now in their final year of training, our students’ profiles will go live on Spotlight and will be searchable by casting directors and agents. On top of this they will have access to industry experts, mentors and dedicated one-to-one careers advice.

“After completing their studies, UCB students leave with everything they need to succeed in the entertainment industry and Spotlight is yet another platform these graduates can use to thrust themselves into their performing careers. Being able to offer our students Spotlight membership along with the acting showcase held at the end of their study programme is advantageous for any actor in training.”

Don’t miss your chance for the spotlight! Places are still available on the Acting for Touring Theatre courses for UCB 2019 entry.
