UK colleges strengthen vocational training ties with South Korea

Wednesday, 03 March 2010 08:51
Josephine John
Four UK colleges have been selected to further the development of international vocational training links with South Korea.

City College Plymouth, Westminster Kingsway College, Lancaster and Morecambe College and Northumberland College were picked to take part in a government strategy to ensure the UK remains a leader in international education.

Staff and students at City College Plymouth have been busy promoting UK vocational training provision in the state, building key strategic relations with the aim of becoming one of its providers for the hair and beauty NVQ.

The Korean government will send 200 students every year to the UK for a 16-week training programme. Given their involvement in the exchange project, City College Plymouth is hopeful that it will be among providers selected for the scheme.

Josephine John, the college's acting head of the faculty for health, says: "This is a great opportunity for staff and students at City College Plymouth, and testament to the high level of education and training we provide.

"We look forward to continuing to work with our Korean counterparts and hopefully training their students in the near future."
