Reading College gets its kit on for Esports

We are excited to unveil our new kit for our Esports team at Reading College.

The Esports team, called Activate Pyramid Reading, has been set up to compete against other colleges in inter-collegiate Esports competitions.

In order to take part, the team needed a kit. The team secured sponsorship for the team kit from hardware, systems and gaming products retailer, Overclockers UK, who have paid for the full cost of the kit.

At the start of the academic year, all students who are currently studying our new Esports, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Level 3 Extended Diploma at the campus on King’s Road, were given a document by the designers Vesey, with ideas of what their kit could look like and asked to submit their opinions.

The final design was formed from the students’ feedback and features a black background with a white and teal chevron design on the front. The sponsor Overlockers UK’s logo is featured in the centre of the T-shirt, with the Activate Learning logo on the top left and the Nike logo on the top right. The shoulders and sleeves are white.

The back of the kit features a smaller white and teal chevron design on a background, with the logo for Nitro Concepts (who make gaming chairs and other equipment). The shoulders and sleeves are white. The Vesey logo is printed on the back yoke of the T-shirt.

Mina is studying an Esports, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Level 3 Extended Diploma at Reading College.

She said: “It was really exciting to find out what the final design was, we didn’t know what it would look like until it arrived, and I really like the final design.

“The kit is really comfortable. The fit is really nice, and I like how it looks.”

Thomas Garner, Esports Teacher, said: “I really like the kit. It has a good mixture of colours.

“It gives us an image and an identity as a team. It’s made the students feel more a part of Esports and boosted their morale as they feel comfortable and engaged with the kits on.”

The new Esports, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma equips students with the skills to progress into the business of competitive gaming, coaching and event management.

The course encourages learners to explore all areas of the industry including entrepreneurship, health, wellbeing and fitness for Esports players and events management.

Learners are also able to specialise in other modules including shout-casting, branding, video production and games design.

The two-year qualification is equivalent to three A Levels. On completion of the course, learners can progress into higher education or pursue a career as a competitive player, coach or promoter.
