Welfare to work sector congratulates first Employment Related Services Diploma award

An employee of training provider Avanta has become the first person to be awarded a Diploma in Employment Related Service (ERS).

The qualification, which is targeted at those providing guidance, support and training to people looking to secure sustainable employment, was awarded to Joanne Carter, who works as an employment consultant at Avanta’s Crewe office.

According to Carter, the Diploma has not only helped her to progress professionally but has also boosted her confidence in the welfare to work sector.

“I am much more aware of the environment I am working in, the labour market and the wider background to the welfare to work industry,” she said.

“I really enjoy my job and feel I make an important contribution to society. Having gained this qualification will only help me provide an even better service as my knowledge and confidence has really increased.”

The welfare to work industry launched its occupational standards and qualifications last year. The Diploma, which is being delivered by Avanta, was developed and funded by employers in the sector and led by the industry PoWER group in partnership with awarding body EDI.

EDI’s director of sales and business strategy, Gareth Phillips, said: “We are delighted to recognise the achievement of Joanne, the first learner to complete the EDI Level 3 Diploma in Employment Related Services and to wish her and her colleagues good luck in their careers in such an important industry.”
