Uxbridge College students celebrate A Level, BTEC and new T Level results

Uxbridge College students were celebrating strong achievements at A Level, T Level, and BTEC after results were released on Thursday August 18^th.

Many students who collected results on the day will be taking up university places of their choice, or going into employment. A Levels, T Levels and BTEC Extended Diplomas are among Level 3 qualifications offered at College, which also include Advanced Apprenticeships, the UAL Extended Diploma, and C&G Technical Diploma.

This is the first year post-pandemic that A Level assessment has returned to an exams system, and the first of T Level completion since they were introduced. Uxbridge College A Level results were very pleasing, and in line with the national picture.

The pass rate for T Levels – offered in Education and Childcare, and Digital, to the first students taking the qualification at College – was 95%. A total of 21 students studied the new two-year qualification, the technical equivalent to A Levels, which includes a sector-specific placement over a number of months.

Whilst some BTEC results had not been finalised, many students will also be progressing to university and other Higher Education courses, with figures looking similar to last year’s.

Achievers at Uxbridge College collecting their results included:

• A Level student Mustafa Arshad, from Hounslow, Uxbridge College’s top achiever this year, with three A* grades in Biology, Physics and Maths. Mustafa is now taking a gap year, and considering applying to study Medicine afterwards. He said: “My teachers have been very supportive and always there to help, including with university admissions. College was a positive place to be, the teachers made A Level study manageable.”

• A Level student Armin Rotabi, from Uxbridge, who achieved A* in Biology and Chemistry, and an A in Mathematics. Armin, who is now on his way to university to study Neuroscience, said: “My teachers at Uxbridge College have been the best teachers I have ever had, they are supportive and offer high-quality teaching so you can progress and improve your grades.”

• BTEC Business classmates (pictured L-R) Alice Alvares, 17, Joseph Mensah, and Riddhi Joshi, who are all on their way to university after achieving high grades in their Extended Diplomas. Alice, who achieved a triple Distinction and will be studying Events Management at West London University, said: “I’m so happy and relieved – it has been a lot of hard work, but I am really pleased with the results and looking forward to starting my degree.”

• T Level student Louise Whitfield, who achieved overall distinctions in her Education and Childcare qualifications, and is now expecting to go into employment. Louise said: “It has been a really good experience being at college – I would do it again if I could! I am quite sad about finishing, as being at college has helped me become who I am today. My tutors at Uxbridge College have been supportive and kind and I am really grateful to them for all the support they have given me.”

At Uxbridge College, where 13 A Level subjects are offered, the overall pass rate was 98%. ‘Higher grades’ A*-C were at 71%.

Staff and students have effectively navigated knowledge gaps, an adapted curriculum post-pandemic, our great Ofsted outcome Feb’ 22, and an expanding offer including newly developed T-Levels and HTQs.

We turn our eyes to HCUC’s expanding T Level offer to include: Management; Administration; Engineering; Construction; Legal, Finance and Accounting; and Health, going forward.”

Uxbridge College has also historically demonstrated a strong performance for ‘value added’ measures – which show the improvement in performance between when students arrive post-GCSE, and when they complete their qualifications. Students achieve significantly better grades in their A Levels compared to the national picture, often arriving with relatively low GCSE grades.
