Cardiff and Vale College’s renowned modern European restaurant The Classroom is set to host Welsh Michelin-star chefs at a fundraising dinner for homelessness charity Llamau on Thursday, 8th November.
The Pride of Wales Charity Dinner will feature dishes designed and created by Michelin-star chefs Hywel Jones, James Sommerin, Stephen Terry and Richard Davies. The chefs have worked together on a special menu for the evening.
An excellent opportunity to enjoy culinary delights prepared by some of Wales’ finest chefs, while raising money for Llamau, guests can watch the chefs at work in The Classroom’s gallery kitchen. They will also explain the inspiration behind their dishes.
The evening will conclude with a charity auction in aid of Llamau, offering the opportunity to bid on a number of exciting items which have yet to be unveiled. The event is being organised by Llamau with support and sponsorship from Sitka Recruitment, Total Produce, The Classroom and Meat Promotion Wales.
Total Produce Regional Director Nick Matthews said: “After attending a Llamau impact event and hearing first-hand the brave and humbling stories of the young people helped by the charity I felt compelled to try to raise some funds for them. Luckily all the chefs said yes when we asked them to get involved and we are now all set for what should be a fabulous event on November 8th.”
Llamau Income Generation Manager Wendy Collie said: “I am totally overwhelmed by the commitment from Total Produce and the chefs who have gone above and beyond to ensure this event is a success. Last year we supported over 8,600 young people, women and children to leave homelessness behind.
“We are truly grateful to everyone involved who are committed to raising much-needed funds for Llamau. Thank you.”
Cardiff and Vale College Principal Kay Martin said: “It is a privilege to host this prestigious event to raise money for as worthy a cause as Llamau. At the College we see ourselves as being at the heart of the communities we serve, so combatting homelessness and safeguarding vulnerable young people is a cause very close to our heart.
“This occasion will also represent a truly fantastic learner experience for the College’s Hospitality and Catering students who will be working at the event. It’s not every day you come in to college and work alongside Michelin-star chefs of the calibre of Hywel Jones, James Sommerin, Stephen Terry and Richard Thomas.”
