Fantastic New Facilities for College Students

James Watt College is investing over £2.6m from its Capital Grant allocation to bring a range of exciting new facilities to its Finnart Street campus in Greenock.

The work, which started earlier this month, will see the addition of a range of new facilities for students and staff, including a new ICT centre and library, refurbished refectory, coffee bar, shop and hairdressing and beauty salon, which will be open for public use. The facilities are scheduled to be completed and ready for use before the Easter break next year.

The refurbishment of the ground floor of the College’s Finnart Street campus marks the beginning of a series of planned improvements to the College’s various sites throughout Inverclyde and North Ayrshire in the coming years.

Sue Pinder, Principal of James Watt College, commented: "This is an exciting time for the College, and we’re looking forward to the completion of these building works and the benefits they will bring to staff and students. It’s so important that we provide a comfortable environment for everyone that works and studies here, and these upgrades will make a huge difference, in particular for our students.

"Our new ICT centre will provide an additional 40 computers, and our coffee bar, shop and improved refectory will make breaks and lunchtimes much more pleasurable! I am also looking forward to welcoming more members of the public into the College to take advantage of the excellent, affordable hair and beauty treatments we will be offering in the new salon."
