From education to employment

Home School to Henley College

Jemimah Newman-Smith, from Beaconsfield, achieved a Distinction in Creative Media Production this year. She is currently completing a gap year before attending Liverpool John Moores University to do Media Production next year.

Jemimah said about her time at Henley College:

“After being home-educated my whole life, I didn’t know how I was going to fit in at Henley and how I’d adapt to this different lifestyle. I originally applied to do A Levels but I changed my mind and decided to apply for Creative Media Production, this was the best decision I could’ve made. Creative Media has been absolutely amazing! I’ve learnt so much and gained skills in the field of interest (Cinematography).

“I feel I’m more prepared to create my own works as well as edit them and present them to a near professional level. But I couldn’t have done it without the help of the teachers. They’ve been so brilliant and taught me so much more than I thought I would from this course. The Henley College has such an amazing environment and I always felt happy to be there and supported. I’ve grown so much as a person and have become more confident in myself and my life choices since coming to the College. I am so glad I made the choice to join!”
