From education to employment

New College Stamford Celebrate Graduate Success

Stamford residents waited in anticipation as proud graduates processed through the town center on Thursday afternoon after successfully completing their degree level courses at New College Stamford.

The annual ceremony this year was held at Stamford Methodist Church on Barn Hill and celebrated another year of fantastic results from various courses such as Animal Management, Computing, Graphic Design, Photography, Performing Arts, Teaching and many more, all coming together for an unforgettable occasion.

Once gowned in their robes and mortarboards, graduates made the renowned journey to Stamford Methodist Church from the Town Hall as overjoyed parents, bystanders and streams of well-wishers admired the procession of colourful gowns and celebratory regalia.

Paralympic medalist from Market Deeping, Jade Etherington warmed the hearts of the crowd with a very inspirational speech about how, with a bit of determination, you can achieve anything you put your mind to, recognising the students hard work that had led them to this very day.

Principal at New College Stamford, Janet Meenaghan said “We are seeing an increasing demand from employers and students choosing to study at University Centre Stamford as the costs of university study rises. College offers a local solution, making degrees affordable for everyone. We pride ourselves on our personal and supportive approach. We are proud of our college and we are exceptionally proud of our students.”

To end the celebration, Catering and Hospitality students from the College’s Gallery Restaurant provided a lavish array of home-made pastries, sandwiches and cakes for Afternoon Tea with former Music Performance student, Meg McPartlin and partner, The Eastern School of Performing Arts, providing the entertainment.

With the opening of their new University Centre the benefits of studying closer to home are clear – pay less, gain more, go far, and this years Graduation was another excellent example of how this was made possible for many students in the area.

If you are interested in studying a course at University Centre Stamford visit their Open Evening on Tuesday 11th October from 5pm – 8pm. For more information on University Level courses visit www.stamford.ac.uk or call 01780 484311.
