PeoplePlus Cymru showcases local Welsh talent this March during Apprenticeship Week which takes place March 4-8th.
Buds to Blossoms nurseries is one of the many employers that have opted for enhancing their staff skills through work-based learning.
Being nominated for our Learner of the Year Awards as one of the top Apprenticeship Employers Buds to Blossoms is the perfect example of how apprenticeships can have a high and positive impact not only for the businesses but for the individuals that work in there.
“People Plus have had a huge impact on the setting and have helped to qualify numerous members of staff” Lee Fowler, director and co-owner at Buds to Blossoms said. “As a business we have always felt continually supported by People Plus and the assessor that tends to tutor all of our staff, Tina Seaborne.”
At the moment, four members of Buds to Blossoms are completing their qualifications with PeoplePlus. All learners have started with different careers and backgrounds to eventually finding their way to the child care sector.
Georgia Young – Early Years Practitioner, “I enjoyed the course and would highly recommend completing an apprenticeship through People Plus. Through my apprenticeship I was able to earn a wage whilst working towards something that, essentially, would allow me to progress in a career in child care.”
Katie Blanchard – Apprentice, “The apprenticeship is currently ongoing and I am very much enjoying it. I have a great support network in my colleagues and my assessor”
Tom Brain – Deputy Manager, “I was able to finish my apprenticeship in about 8 months with the wonderful support from my assessor and of course my team. I had an immediate passion for child care and I believe this passion give me the drive and determination to achieve my qualification in the time I did.” Tom was promoted to Deputy Manager this past January.
Kaitlin Shorthouse – Early Years Practitioner, “Working at the nursery was my first ever job at the age of 17. I initially began working voluntary and was then offered the CCLD Level 3 apprenticeship from Lee. My little girl Ivy-Mae was only 6 months old when I started the apprenticeship so it was perfect for me; I was able to gain a qualification, work on the job and I was lucky enough to be able to have Ivy in work with me.”
