The ETF and SET launch updated Professional Standards Research Tool

The Education and Training Foundation (ETF) has launched the Professional Standards Research Tool through the Society for Education and Training (SET). Designed for all Further Education (FE) and Training sector practitioners, it further increases the ETF’s Continuous Professional Development (CPD) support for the sector’s workforce.

The tool is a redeveloped and enhanced version of the popular QTLS research map developed in 2016. It is an interactive resource that aims to help practitioners keep up to date with relevant educational theory and research. It will particularly benefit those members who are undertaking QTLS status and Advanced Teacher Status (ATS), the badges of professionalism and mastery in FE conferred by the ETF through SET.

Hosted on the SET website, the new Professional Standards Research Tool offers clear navigation to a range of intuitive features designed to be accessed anywhere, anytime, on any mobile or desktop devices. The tool gives users quick access to an updated range of new resources relating to each of the 20 Professional Standards including blogs, papers, videos, posters and much more.

“Since their development in 2014 by the Education and Training Foundation, the Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers have supported practitioners to maintain and improve standards of teaching and learning, and outcomes for learners in the Further Education (FE) and Training sector.

“The updated Professional Standards Research Tool aims to help busy teachers source accessible research articles and reports that are referenced to the professional standards. It will be of significant benefit to those undertaking QTLS and ATS, as these participants are required to demonstrate how improvements in their practice have been informed by relevant educational research and theory.”
