The past 12 months have placed many obstacles and challenges in the path of teaching and education workers, as the pandemic took grip of the nation and workplace processes were forced to change to stay within government guidelines.

With 32% of workers in teaching and education having suffered a workplace accident in the past, a new report by The Compensation Experts has revealed the attitudes towards safety in the workplace.

The report titled ‘The workplace safety index’ surveyed workers within the teaching and education sector, revealing their thoughts and opinions on their place of work. 

Only 38% of teaching and education workers felt their employer took social distance rules seriously

For those workers that had to continue working during the COVID-19 pandemic, only 38% believed that their employers took social distancing rules seriously.

The appearing lack of social distancing measures enforced by employers was also mirrored across all sectors in the UK. The report revealed that for all sectors working during COVID-19, only 37% of employers took social distancing seriously, resulting in an alarming 39% of UK workers to feel unsafe in their place of work.

When asked on a scale of 1-10 (10 being very safe) how safe employees feel in the workplace, the average UK teaching and education worker stated 7.8.
