From education to employment

Trafford College’s Aspire Restaurant adds gold to its string of accolades

Trafford College’s Aspire Restaurant has been awarded the prestigious Gold Accreditation and Centre of Excellence status from People 1st.

People 1st and the AA College Rosette scheme work in collaboration to highlight outstanding hospitality provision up and down the country, and following an inspection and panel meeting, Aspire was commended for demonstrating a progressive and sustainable commitment to matching learners’ skills with employers’ needs.

Gold standard accredited colleges are recognised for taking an above average and proactive approach to the professional development of their learners, and have effective and collaborative working partnerships with industry.

Aspire also received Centre of Excellence status for both food and beverage service, and patisserie and confectionery.

Matthew Shaw, Head of Curriculum for hospitality, said: “I’m extremely proud of the team who’ve worked exceptionally hard to maintain our position as one of the country’s leading further education hospitality providers.

“The prestige of retaining our Centre of Excellence status for two provisions highlights our commitment to supporting industry by providing learners with the knowledge and skills to progress in the world of work.”

The accolades follow Aspire retaining its AA College Rosette ‘Highly Commended’ status last month, as well as success in the AA College Restaurant of the Year competition, where the College has made it through to the finals for the second year running.
