The first cohort of degree apprentices studying at the University of Exeter Business School (@UniofExeter) and employed by @JPMorgan, a global leader in financial services, have achieved exceptional results in their end-point assessments.

Three students in J.P. Morgan’s Level 4 Investment Operation Specialist Apprenticeship cohort obtained top marks, with 78% achieving a distinction and 100% of apprentices passing first time.

A Level 4 Investment Operations Specialist Apprenticeship allows school leavers to “earn while they learn” – learning on the job the specific knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work in the financial sector while gaining a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Upon completion of the Level 4 programme and passing the end-point assessment, apprentices advance onto a Level 6 Financial Services Professional pathway as they work towards a BSc degree in Applied Finance from the University of Exeter Business School.

Rachael Johnstone, Director of Degree Apprenticeships at the University of Exeter Business School, said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for our first intake where we had no previous examples to benchmark against. We are achieving significantly better results and are now working as a team to ensure we can maintain this as numbers on the programme grow.”

Phill Paige, Executive Director and UK Early Years Careers Lead at J.P. Morgan, added:

“We’re incredibly proud of our apprentices and this set of results is testament to how talented and hardworking they are.”

The University of Exeter now works with 200 employers on degree apprenticeship programmes, with five of the top 10 organisations belonging to the finance sector.

Professor David Allen, Dean of the University of Exeter Business School, said these results show how the University of Exeter Business School is now a leading Business School for the financial sector.

“These excellent results show that we have established ourselves as the UK leader for degree apprenticeships in applied finance – and this is true for the Senior Leader MBA as well,” he said.
