#FutureOfWork: Spotlight on early years and childcare | Episode 2

For today’s show, Gavin O’Meara and co-host Janet King (Sector Manager Education and Childcare, NCFE) are joined by guest speakers Gary Simpson (LEYF) and Gill Mason (Kids Planet Day Nurseries) to shine a spotlight on the early years and childcare sector. As a sector that has shown itself to be more vital to society than ever throughout the pandemic, we’ll be taking a close look at the challenges and opportunities that are impacting the current workforce. Then, we’ll move on to discussing what the #FutureOfWork looks like for early years and childcare, as well as looking at the key skills gaps that we’re seeing, and the transferable skills that will help individuals to enter and progress within the early years and childcare workforce.

This episode also marks this year’s Childcare and Early Education week (24 – 28 Jan), as hosted by the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Childcare and Early Education, which has a focus on celebrating those who are Early Years Educators.
